The simplest explanation for Fahrenheits misunderstanding of the Roemer scale seems to lie in the ambiguity of the term blood-warm. It can mean either a tepid heat or the exact temperature of the human blood.2 Roemer probably intended to convey the former meaning, and Fahrenheit obviously understood the latter one.
